If you’ve ever felt defeated because you’ve tried everything to lose weight and become your best self then these tips are going to change your life! This was my exact feeling. Defeat. It’s exactly the stuck place I needed to be to feel the fight return to me.
These tips are proven based on my research and application. I have lost 7lbs since I started this journey consistently about a month ago. I didn’t just want to lose weight. I plan on keeping them off by inculcating the habits that will catapult me to better health, confidence and body.
Time is Money, But it’s Also Body
Eating at odd hours of night used to be me. If you’re up then the tendency to snack is definitely there. I would go for a walk in the evenings and by the time I would return, shower and eat dinner it would be 8:30-9pm.
For most people, nights can be pretty sedentary. We’re sitting in front of the television or sitting in bed so when we eat late this adds to a domino effect that eventually leads to unwanted, stubborn belly fat and the dreaded back fat.
The best habit I introduced to my body was to eat between 5:30-6:30pm.
*If I’m fasting, I eat a bit later.
What’s Really in That Tummy?
Most of us haven’t fully fathomed the gravity of the foods we feed our mouths. In fact, we probably believe we practice healthy eating habits. Let’s push a bit further and take literal stock of what’s in our tummies.
What foods have we given to our temples? Start journaling breakfast, lunch, dinner and any snacks.
I realized that although I wasn’t eating bread for the most part, I was consuming flour rich foods. Like pasta, crackers and my personal arch enemy; chocolate cake! If I dug further there’s roux that’s a base for thickening sauces and gravy in foods as well. Then there’s suspicious chocolate, sushi, soy sauce, salad dressing, gum and even alcohol  that contains wheat.
I became consciously aware of what was going into my body. Though I don’t obsess about it. After all, life is about balance so you should reward yourself and lead yourself down the path of healthier habits.
It’s also a good idea to drink kombucha and take a good probiotic for bloating, gut health and improved digestion.
Hot Water and Fasting For The Win
The main habit I initiated during this transformative process was intermittent fasting. In the mornings I consume hot water with cinnamon and lime. I drink water throughout the day and break my fast between 12:30-1:30pm. This also has meant that the absolute latest to eat dinner should be 8pm. Usually I fast for 14-20 hours.
At first when I researched intermittent fasting the only thing that crossed my mind was denial. Denial of food! I like to consider myself quite the foodie so this didn’t bode well with me. For me food is life, but my life is precious so I decided to hit the start button on this new journey.
Intermittent fasting also has a slew of health benefits. According to Healthline, intermittent fasting can help women to improve heart health, reduce the risk of diabetes, improve mental health, detox the liver and reduce inflammation.
I consistently workout primarily at home in the mornings, time permitting. I usually spend 5-10 minutes on ab exercises and about 20-25 minutes on a particular area or whole body cardio. For example back, legs or arms exercises.
I’ve also lost inches off my waist! Which woman doesn’t love that? I lost 5 inches off my waist! Also, the weight lost may not seem like much, but keep in mind if you’re working out muscle weighs.
Losing these 7lbs has boosted the way in which I live my life. Yes, all these steps improve longevity, but the main facet of losing these pesky pounds has being quality of life.
