For ages women have dreaded the bags and dark circles under our eyes. It has warranted many visits to the mirror much like snow white’s wicked step mother who was obsessed with youthful glowing skin.

Thankfully, we don’t need to covet or hire a huntsman to steal someone else’s youth. With careful practiced diligence and implementing great habits, we too can ditch the bags and dark circles. The magic is in the habit of consistency!

If you’re thinking that it’s only a personal problem, think again! It’s important to understand that the skin around our eyes is the thinnest in comparison to the rest of our face. In fact, it’s about ten times thinner! The more we age, the more we lose collagen and elasticity so taking care of the skin around your eyes should be prioritized.

Here are 5 ways to get rid of under eye bags and dark circles:

1. Tea Bags

Soak Tea Bags in cold water and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes. Apply over the bags and circles for 10-15 minutes. Caffeinated green tea bags are rich in antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties that fight free radicals as well as restore your glow and vibrance.

2. Turmeric

Mix turmeric with cold milk to make a paste and apply to under eyes. 10-15 minutes is all you need!

3. Coconut Oil

Indians have used coconut oil since the beginning of time or so I’d like to think. Coconut is fantastic for the skin and comes with many anti aging benefits. It lightens, smoothens and moisturizes the skin. It also helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and is anti-inflammatory.

Apply with the ring finger and gently massage into the skin in an upwards motion. The good news is you can leave it on. No removal necessary!

4. Retinol

Include retinol in your skincare regimen. Retinol helps to rebuild collagen in skin and collagen helps to smooth, lighten and firm aged, translucent, sagging skin and dark circles. Retinol creams cost anywhere from $9 to about $85.

5. Cold Compress

Apply a cold compress for 10-15 minutes daily. If you can do it in the morning and evening, great! Cold compress applied consistently is effective for reducing swelling and dark circles under the eyes.

Remember, to be the receiver of positive results, daily habits is key. You can improve the appearance of the skin under your eyes, if, you do the necessary things routinely. Your skin will love you for making healthy skin decisions!
