Halloween has been officially thwarted this year! 2020 will be one for the books.
My community in Wellington, Florida has the liveliest, most happening halloween celebrations every year.
We traverse the entire neighborhood, going from home to home, from haunted house to haunted house, from candy bowl to candy bowl. The kids have the best time and the adults too!
Covid has seeped into every crevice of our lives and right now we must abide.
So what do we do this halloween to keep it alive and enjoyable for our little ones?
Keep It In The Family
Don’t cancel celebrations, just keep it in the family. Have halloween with family and loved ones that you’ve continued to associate with and who’ve remained safe. Don’t forget to invite humans too!
Go On A Journey
Take the kids on a driving trick or treat experience. Visit families within a reasonable distance and make it a fun time. It’s different, it’ll be fun to coordinate with close family and friends and the kids will love you for it!
Host A Small Halloween Party
Get the kids together and create an experience. Kids remember memorable experiences. Let them get involved in the decorating!
My kids love to wrap spider web around the plants and bury skeleton heads in the yard AND they can join in on helping to set up for their party.
Plan Activities
Carve pumpkins, bake an apple pie together, do peel off halloween tattoos, plan a scavenger hunt and turn the kids into toilet paper wrapped mummies (they’ll loveee the last one!).
2020 is a real test! A test that the human spirit can prevail. That we can still find fun, doable ways to cope.
I hope you’ve gained some nuggets and you too will be inspired to keep the spirit of childhood experiences alive! Have a safe and fun halloween and remember to sanitize and practice proper hygiene.
